The Advocate Healthcare Story
In 2005, after a master's degree and practicing as a dentist, the founder of Advocate Healthcare discovered that there were very few quality and reliable dental laboratories in Ghana from where he could get dental prostheses to cater to his patients. He also saw the gap in the market and how other dentists could benefit from a professional dental laboratory. He employed the services of a highly qualified expatriate dental technician, imported some equipment and started M&B Dental Laboratory - a small dental laboratory dedicated to providing world class dental prostheses for his own practice and also to local dentists in Ghana.
What started as a small company went beyond the Ghana market to serve dentists and patients located in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Kenya. The founder started an initiative to train and graduate local dental technicians to meet up to international standards. After a few years, he bought a property located at Lakeside Estates Ashaley Botwey and built a medical and dental clinic to serve the health needs of people in the community and also to complement the dental laboratory. Services such as a medical laboratory and pharmacy were added on. In the future, Advoate Healthcare will be developed in to a fully fledged hospital with departments such as Obs and Gynae, Pediatrics and Dietitian Consultancy.
